5 minute exercise for immediate blue mood (depression) relief

This is one simple exercise which helped me improving my mood almost instantly.

Just stop thinking.

In order to succeed in that - just start looking at something, for example, through window, and start looking at the tree. But just look at it, do not allow Your brain to start making words about tree, leafs, etc. Once when it starts, move Your attention to some other object - grass, and just look at it. Do not think about grass, leave You brain empty. Continue this process as much as You want. Just do not think. Do not look at anything which has words written on it, since Your brain will "automatically" start to read them. As much the observation object is abstract, that is better.

This is not a cure for blue mood (depression), which can have different causes, and which can need some deeper therapy, but this exercise is here just to help You overcome sudden decline of Your mood, to help you temporarily.
