Currently, I am in Dundalk, Ireland. Business trip, where my job was to upgrade one Oracle 7 TB database from one hardware to another with minimum downtime. With some difficulties, and problems, I successfully solved, with the help from other team members, the project is successful.
Now I am setting in the office, monitoring old database on new hardware, and this question came to my mind.
I am surrounded by many new people, all of them from different technical (and historical) backgrounds. And I am sure that they have lots of interesting things to say, but I was always shy. How should I approach them, and ask them to share some of their knowledge with me? They know me only for couple of days, I did not even remember all their names! Also, I would be in position to try to understand their Irish accent.
So, I do not have an answer to the question, how to approach these people. Something to work on.
